Patient Testimonial

From Dennis W.
In 2007 I went to my regular physician for my yearly PSA test. It went from 1.0 in 2006 to 2.76 in 2007. My doctor said to check it again in six months he wasn't that concerned. Because I had an enlarged prostate I had researched different things concerning the prostate and knew that a jump in the PSA more than 20 percent could mean cancer. I made an appointment with a well known urologist and he was concerned and did a biopsy. When he called to tell me the results I learned I had prostate cancer. He told me all the different options and said I was a good candidate for any of them.

My wife and I decided to read up on all the options available to treat prostate cancer and from what we read the DaVinci Robotic surgery seemed to be the best option. However the urologist we were seeing did not do that type of surgery. Dr. Zimmerman was highly recommended by a family friend who had this surgery. From the first time we met Dr. Zimmerman he made us feel at ease and explained everything we needed to know and answered all our questions. I had the DaVinci surgery by Dr. Zimmerman on Thursday April 19th and went home on Friday the 20th. I had a little soreness but did not need any pain medication after leaving the hospital.

On Saturday the 21st I was walking around Shop Rite with my Wife. Even with the catheter I went walking every day. The only restrictions I had was no heavy lifting. I had minor incontinence for a couple of months but no other effects from the surgery. One month after the catheter was removed I was able to have relations with my wife which was a concern of mine. I was back to work within a month.

I highly recommend Dr. Zimmerman and this type of surgery because of the quick recovery I had as compared to the standard surgery.
