Patient Testimonial

From Frank G.
My PSA level went over 4 when my primary physician suggested follow up with an Urologist and recommended Dr. Marc Colton.
My first visit with Dr. Colton was a review of my charts and a recommendation to perform a prostrate biopsy. There are other methods to test for prostrate but Dr. Colton advised me the other methods could indicate a false reading and the most conclusive method was a biopsy.
Dr. Colton was very thorough going over the procedure. He took the time to make me feel very comfortable with the explanation and answer any questions I had regarding the procedure.

The results of the biopsy indicated a mid range prostrate cancer condition (Gleason number 6).
Dr. Colton suggested a meeting with family members to discuss the various options in treating the prostrate cancer.
Dr. Colton scheduled a meeting at the end of the day to provide sufficient time to discuss options in detail without interruptions.
The meeting lasted over an hour and Dr. Colton described in detail the various options. My family and I went over any questions and concerns we may have had. Dr. Colton answered all questions and the family felt very comfortable with the Dr's kind manners and thorough answers.

I elected to have the prostrate remove using the Da Vinci procedure. The procedure was performed at St. Clara's hospital, which, at the time had just received the latest robotic equipment.

I received a call from Dr. Colton and also the anesthesiologist the day before surgery to answer any additional questions I had.

I was admitted for surgery at 5:30 AM. The nurse who prepared me was very kind and made me feel very comfortable.
Dr. Colton and the anesthesiologist met me in the preop room to ease any concerns I had. The nurses in the operating room were very nice and friendly. They made me feel very comfortable.
When the doctors enter the operating room the nurses went about their tasks preparing for the surgery. They moved like a well-oiled machine.

I woke up in my room some time in the afternoon. I felt a little discomfort but no real pain. By 6 PM I was walking around the hospital.
Sleeping at night was a little uncomfortable, but I managed to get a decent first night’s rest.
I was released from the hospital the next morning.

The discomfort I felt for the next ten days subsided with each day following surgery. I did not feel real pain and did not take any pain medication.
The catheter was removed after 10 days. Dr. Colton advised me not to lift anything heavy until 4 weeks after surgery.
The healing process went extremely well without any complications.

Dr. Colton and hospital staff were very kind, understanding and very professional throughout the entire time (pre surgery, surgery and post surgery).
I could not have asked for a better doctor or staff.
