For a suspected case of diverticulitis my primary physician ordered a CT scan of my lower abdomen. It was during the evaluation of the scan that an unsuspected abnormality was identified on my left kidney. Although the initial diagnosis of diverticulitis was confirmed, the kidney abnormality presented a far more challenging problem.

During a follow up consultation with my primary physician, he informed me that the abnormality on my kidney was highly suspect of being a malignancy. He expressed the need to have this situation immediately addressed and he highly recommended that I see Drs. Marc Colton and Gregg Zimmerman of Morris Urology. In his opinion and experience he has found Dr Colton and Dr Zimmerman to be extremely knowledgeable and talented urological specialists.

My wife and I met, with Dr Colton for a full review of my CT scans. During this consultation we found Dr Colton to be professionally very thorough and personally friendly. He very clearly explained both his diagnosis and the treatment alternatives available to me. He also asked his associate Dr Zimmerman to join us to review the CT scans independently. Dr Zimmerman's analysis and treatment alternatives proved to be in agreement with Dr Colton's. Under the given circumstances, my wife and I both found this to be very reassuring.

Of the treatment options presented, it became apparent that based on the professional capabilities and competencies of both Dr Colton and Dr Zimmerman I could avail myself of robotic laparoscopic surgery utilizing the da Vinci® Surgical System at St Clare's Hospital. Although my surgery would be major, this procedure would be the least invasive and thereby result in the shortest post operation recovery.

I was up on my feet the day after surgery and out of the hospital in three. This would not have been the case utilizing traditional operative techniques.

I feel very lucky to have had access to care from two very talented and knowledgeable professionals, Dr Marc Colton and Dr Gregg Zimmerman.
