From William M.
It's not every day you hear the words "you have cancer." I don't know that anybody is ready to face an operation for cancer. Most of us still consider the "C" word something unfortunate that happens to other people. I know that I was prepared and expecting the diagnosis when you called, because I had had higher than normal PSA's for about seven years. I had been going to another urologist who I had not been comfortable with. Then I met Dr. Marc and I felt comfintable with him from the frst office visit. He is confident and has a great sense of humor. The offices of Dr. Colton & Zimmerman are clean, and staffed with both, competent and helpful nursing and office personnel. When it became time to discuss my options, robotic surgery made the most sense. When I met Dr. Zimmerman for the first time he also projected the same confidence and good nature. I feel the two of them are quite a team. I had some reservations about St. Clare's hospital but chose to trust in Dr. Marc, and I was not disappointed. His robotic surgery teams are also the best, and St. Clare's hospital is clean and well staffed.
The operation, itself does not leave you in too much discomfort. I was able to come back from the recovery room, and upon becoming fully awake, was not in any discomfort. I was later informed that the operation had went well and that I was most likely cancer free. I was kept overnight in the hospital and released the next day. I stopped in at work on the way home from, the hospital just to say I was cancer free, boy that felt good. I fall into the group that has a physically stressful job, so I took the full six weeks off for rest and recovery. I was able to travel after the catheter was removed and spent some time camping with my wife in our Volkswagen camper van in Canada.
It has been two weeks past my six month office visit. Dr Colton has been right about the complete recovery. At this point, the incontinence has almost disappeared. For those of you that are worried about the impotence issue, I can't say for sure but if things progress as they have been I have confidence that all will be well. In closing the team of Dr Colton & Zimmerman at Morris Urology and St Claire's staff offers the best cancer treatment to be found in New Jersey. Thank you all for my continuing recovery.
With gratitude for a job well done.
